Third Space

Third Space is a performance that makes the audience reflect on the themes 'home', 'language' and 'hospitality'.

Poster 'Third Space'. People form a line on a road between dunes, carrying chairs and furniture over their heads.

‘Third Space’ a diverse group of performers, (re)organizes the space using the themes ‘home’, ‘language’ and ‘hospitality’. According to the philosopher Derrida, the ideas of ‘home’ (a house or a country) and hospitality are directly connected. But what if you don’t have a home? What if you speak another language or several languages at the same time, where do you feel at home then?

Performance ‘Third Space’ features stories of travelers and those who stay at home, stories about journeys and (imaginary) cities. In a multilingual interplay, the performers take you on a tour to imaginary places, inspired by Italo Calvino’s ‘Invisible Cities’. A third hybrid space full of objects, stories, languages, memories, music and dreams that have not been given a place yet. A search to involve the audience in creating a collective home.

The performance is multilingual.
